cold lunch offer

School Meals

Please may we remind you that all meals cost £2.20 per day / £11.00 per week for all children and must be paid for in advance at the beginning of term or at least weekly. If you wish to pay for the next half-term in advance, please pay online here: www.scopay.com/mersea-island   (where you can also check your child’s balance) or complete the slip below and return it to the school with a cheque made payable to Mersea Island School. Credits for absence will be carried forward or repaid to you by request.

Please will you be kind enough to ensure that payments are always placed in a sealed envelope clearly labelled with the child’s name, class, amount and purpose of payment. Envelopes are available from the office at any time or through your child’s class teacher.

All dinner money envelopes can be posted into the post box located just inside the door in Reception.

Free School Meals and the Pupil Premium

Are you in receipt of any of the benefits listed below? If so, your child could be entitled to free school meals and attract the pupil premium - additional resources for the school.

  • Income Support
  • Income-Based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit - provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) that does not exceed £16,190
  • Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Income-Related Employment & Support Allowance
  • Working Tax Credit 'run-on' - the payment someone may receive for a further four weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit.

If your child is in early years or years 1 or 2, it is important to let the school know if your child qualifies for free school meals as this allows the school to access additional resources, the 'pupil premium', which can be used for extra support. You will need to provide evidence of the benefits that you receive to the school office for checking.

If your child is in years 3-6, you must apply for free school meals online

The office staff will be happy to assist you with any queries. All information is handled in strictest confidence.
