Mersea squash players are going from strength to strength. On Sunday 14th January 7 children took the trip to the newly renovated Bishop Stortford Squash Club to try their hand in the Essex Junior Squash grand prix series.

In the year 4 and under section Hugh took home runner up position and a medal even after sustaining three hits with the ball during the competition.

Ruby continued her form with a runner up in the year 6 and under girls section with a battle ending on 2-1 with the eventual winner.

The boys year 6 and under section is growing in size at every event and this time Harrison took a great winner spot in his group winning all his matches 2-1, 2-0, 2-0, 2-0. Henry taking a joint first with two other players in the strongest year 6 group. George picking up runner up this time, as did Aidan in his respective group.

That is: 2 x wins and 4 x runners up in one event.

Current leader standings for the 2017/2018 season table after 4 of the 7 events are:

Girls Year 6 and Under group 1st Ruby 57 points 4th Leonie 16 points
