EFS squash team take the lead - Lexden Cup

Mersea School's EFS kit sponsored squash team took round two of the Lexden Cup by storm, leaving themselves in a good position for the third and final round to be held on 14th December.

George, Daniel, Hugh and Luca made up the boys selection, with Alice, Lucy, India and Matilda showing the girls strength.

Mersea A team took on Milldene school and Stanway B team coming up victors 60-14 and 60-11 respectively with clean sweeps of matches. All four players looking calm, confident and playing well, with the usual great manners on court Mersea has become known for, shaking hands after every match, supporting their team members, clapping good play from their opponents and thanking the markers as they exit the courts.

Mersea B first played Stanway B taking the win 60-8 to then be faced with Tiptree, winners from 2014-2016. Both boys Luca and Hugh stepped up and took the wins comfortably, giving the girls a good margin of error for their turns. Matilda fought valiantly and grabbed Mersea a much need 11 points to Tiptree's 15 against their girl A when Alice then stepped up to grab the bull by the horns with a renewed look of confidence she took the third win for Mersea and the overall win 56-31.

This puts the league able as follows:

Lucy, Hugh and George remain unbeaten over two rounds of competition.

The final round will see Stanway A vs Mersea B; Stanway B vs Milldene; and Tiptree vs Mersea A. After this match according to final standings in the table will see a play off for 1st and 2nd place; 3rd and 4th place; and 5th and 6th position.
