Last weekend the 2018/19 Miles Smith Essex Junior Squash Grand Prix series moved to Lexden Racket & Fitness Club for round 2 of 8. 60 players entered the second Grand Prix of the season, a record number of entries.

In the girls year 4 & under Grace in her first season took the honours again winning two of her games against year 6 and under girls and amassing 72 points in total. Lucy in girls year 6 and under (in her first year at this age group) took 58 points and one match win to take the third place medal and her first points towards the league table.

Harrison playing in boys year 4 and under (again in his first year) took the win in one match and took a game from the eventual silver medalist of the group.

Luca and Daniel, also in their first year of competing took 6th and 2nd place respectively. Luca taking games from the 4th and 2nd placed players. Daniel winning four matches   2-0 and only losing out in this occasion to the eventual winner.

In Group B, George (playing up from Year 6) in the boys year 8 and under event continued his winning form taking the group without dropping a game and showing why an early start to playing squash is such a benefit to a player.

Grand Prix 3 sees a return to Connaught Squash Club in Chingford on 25th November 2018 where another bumper entry is expected.

Current standings on the championship points after two events sees Grace heading the year 4 and under girls section and Harrison laying in 6th place in the boys equivalent section. Lucy stands in = third in the girls year 6 and under group while Daniel hovers at 7th place after only attending 1 GP  to date and Luca in 11th also with just one event under his belt. George stands in 2nd place in an age group above his own (showing his current strength).

Winners and runners up of each year group at the end of all eight grand Prix will be invited to attend a 2 hour training session with Daryl Selby, World No.16 and attend a Q & A session and autographs afterwards, plus getting their name on the new coveted winners trophies.
