Mersea Island School had no less than ten players at the Essex Junior Open, some past players and 5 current pupils, held at Colchester Garrison at the weekend. Age groups were spread all the way from Under 11's to Under 19's in both boy and girl categories.

Aidan picked up a really useful 5th place in the boys Under 11 section which was extremely competitive. With 15 players entered this was a great result for Aidan only losing to Number 1 seed in England, so a great experience to play someone of that calibre. George picked up the plate winner trophy in this same event, again only dropping one match along the way. Hugh picked up a useful 11th place finish, a great show as he still has two years left in this age category.

The girls did not disappoint either. Amelie coming through from a 15 starting field to knock out the number 4 and 3 seed to take a final third position in the next age group up, the girls under 13 category in this her first year at this level. Ruby winning two of her matches with some great hard fought battles and some great learning experiences for her future.

Well done team Mersea.
