Monday 9th April had 16 children keen to battle in two different categories.

The red ball tournament, group 1, for children fairly new to competition had eight contestants.
With some well fought matches throughout a 5 hour duration Harvey came out strongest to take the group win, trophy and Easter Egg.
In joint second, Sacha and Angel had to share the runner up trophy for today, Sacha taking it home (another already ordered for Angel).

The black ball competition, group 2, were all more experienced on court.
Some tough battles were seen and runner up Daniel only losing to eventual winner Hugh who took all his matches and only dropped one game in the tournament to Sid who finished third. Matilda came 5th and finished as highest girl in this group.

Mersea is well known for their fair play and manners on court. They fight hard and smart but play with manners, fairness and honesty.
This year the overall award presented by the Mica Centre for fair play was presented to Sid, who was honest throughout and played fair, but also his manners towards other players and their good shots were seen often. India in group 2 and Izzy in group 1 picked up a racket bag and medal each for fair play on their respective courts. Abigail received an Easter selection box for perseverance and determination. This was her first time on an actual squash court and she tried hard the whole day, never stopping smiling, this trait will see her do well in the future, her game improving today with each match.
